This programme forms part of a long-term project devoted to the recovery of the musical heritage preserved in the archive of Burgos Cathedral, led by the Burgos Baroque Ensemble. Following the La Música Dormida concert series (2021) and the annual Corpus Christi performances, the fourth and final concert of this second cycle offers a synthesis of several years of research. It presents works from the 17th and 18th centuries, transcribed and edited by the Burgos Baroque Ensemble and performed on period instruments according to historically informed criteria.
In this programme, Ensemble La Danserye takes part as a collaborating ensemble, providing its group of wind players (ministriles) for a journey through styles, genres, and composers associated with the Burgos cathedral — from Juan García de Salazar to Antonio Abadía. Combining liturgical polyphony, villancicos, and polychoral writing, the programme creates a dialogue between tradition and innovation, aiming to bring these long-silent “sleeping musics” to new audiences and venues.
