A musical walk in sixteenth-century Granada

This concert presents a selection of works from the MS 975 of the Biblioteca Manuel de Falla in Granada (E-GRmf 975), which is one of the few books that have been preserved for the use of groups of instrumentalists (ministriles) who served in secular and religious contexts in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. From the music tower located at the Paseo de los Tristes, the instrumentalists entertained the walks of the Granada inhabitants and contributed to the urban soundscape. The ensembles used a variety of instruments to perform pieces in the vernacular, such as villancicos, chansons and madrigals.

Produced by the FEX, International Festival of Music and Dance of Granada
