Mare Nostrum: Vocal and Instrumental Polyphonies (Lapége)

This program is built around music inspired by the Mediterranean Sea—Mare Nostrum for the Romans—through a selection of vocal and instrumental pieces based on maritime themes, composed by musicians from countries bordering the Mediterranean. Well-known works, such as the ensalada “La Bomba” by Mateo Flecha, are combined with a series of lesser-known or unpublished pieces by Italian masters such as Banchieri, Gabrieli, Monteverdi, Orlando di Lasso, and Carissimi.
